Son of Paper (SOP) is a renaissance artist with roots in Hip-Hop culture and San Francisco Chinatown community work. SOP chose his artist name to pay respect to the lineage and artistry of his immigrant great grandparents— who came to the U.S. as Paper Son’s and Daughters over 100 years ago. Currently, Son of Paper is making a documentary called HOW LONG TO KOWKONG about his rollercoaster journey back to his ancestral homeland in Guangdong. Will Son of Paper reclaim his powerful Cantonese heritage or remain buried in self-doubt and whitewashed assimilation?

Son of Paper contributed the following tracks:

Listen to Son of Paper’s Soju Over Ice wherever you listen to your music. Son of Paper is half Korean and loved his study abroad semester in Seoul a bit too much— which fostered this chill, 맛있는 creation. While SOP doesn’t drink anymore, his fans and relatives in Korea love this addictive song, almost as much as they love the drink itself. 여러분, 소주 마실때 ‘소주위해아이스’ 꼭 들어보세요!

Son of Paper’s WAY UP (feat. Vega Heartbreak) is produced by hømemade

WAY UP’s collaboration was organically grown, rooted in respect between cultures and a love for hip-hop music. SOP and the hook vocalist, Vega Heartbreak, shared the bill at a cultural bridge building event in South Central LA.. and made good on the promise “one day, let’s cook.” Over the last 5 years, SOP and hømemade continue to build imaginative music that moves people.
